Getting Traffic to Your Blog

No matter what the website, in order for it to be a success one needs to have a constant and steady stream of traffic to profit, and this is certainly the case for those creating blogs.

There are simply too many factors to ignore when it comes to getting traffic, and thus people that are able to harness traffic to their blog are known as masters of the internet. The interesting fact is that getting traffic to your blog is easier than you might think, and just takes some creative thinking, and a few hours a day of action oriented promotion.

So what types of people do you want to read your blog?
This is where the traffic driving secrets come into play when dealing with a blog. The best way to get traffic to your blog is by using free promotional methods. The key is to have something on your blog worth checking out once they get there, but for this part we’ll simply focus on getting traffic.

Start out by joining forums or other blogs, and social networks in your niche. If you have a blog that is aimed at giving dating advice, make sure to join several dating forums or blogs can, and any free dating sites possible. I would first suggest that you get familiar with that blog or forum by posting comments that are relative to the topic being discussed. On most blogs and or forums you are allowed to enter your websites address (or URL). If other readers of that websites blog or forum are interested in what you have to offer they will click on the link to find out more about you and services. But one word of caution here. Do not blantantly advertsie on someones blog. This will cause an avalanche of negativity from the blogs own, which is something you don’t want to see happen.

Once this is done take a few hours each day to make posts, eventually people will start considering you an expert, and gladly check out your site.

Next it is important to start submitting your blog posts as articles to free article directories. The free article directories will help promote your blog by distributing the articles to thousands of resources, which will also get your blog, and your article higher search engine ranking at the same time.

Finally start to collect email addresses and setup your blog for RSS feeds or by setting up a squeeze page or landing page on your website or blog. This will allow your readers to enjoy your blog in the comfort of their inbox by choosing the option on your blog software to email the blog post every time a new one goes up. Or they can read your updates via a weekly or bi-weekly newsletter. This will be a way to attract daily traffic to your blog for free, and keep the traffic you receive from your blog or forum posting coming back.

Until next time,

  • Hi,

I like the idea however, article directories are new to me, do they just link back or create duplicates. Not sure about the duplicate content – SEO problem, Google and all that, perhaps you could enlighten me a little more.

  • Dear Richard,

Thank you so much for your comment.
Maybe I can shed a little light on the duplicate content issue.

Over at Google, they have a very good article pertaining to duplicate content, which you can find here.

When I use article directories, and I must say that I use them sparingly, I use content that is almost exactly like the content on my blogs.
    For example:

I’ll post an article about Website Design, and in the signature file and in the article, I’ll link it to related content on my blog.
Google does not consider related content to be a duplication.

I also have another blog which provides daily devotionals. I’ll post the devotional in an article directory and post the same
article on my blog, and I do not seem to get penalized in any way.

I my personal experience I have not run into any problems with duplicate content. So I believe that it is just a matter
    of preference.

    I hope this helps.
    Timothy
